The Billing Process
MAJSA bills for sanitary sewer usage quarterly. You will receive four billings annually, one for each quarterly amount due. Your bill will clearly indicate the due date for the quarter. Any bills not paid within this period will be assessed a 10% penalty as past due. In addition, interest charges will accrue on past-due amounts at a rate of 1/2% per month (with a maximum of 6% per year).
Annual Payment Option
At the beginning of the first billing quarter of the year, you have the opportunity to pay an entire year's usage fees in advance and thereby receive a discount of 3% on your yearly bill. In order for you to receive the discount, the payment must be made on or before the indicated due date for the first quarter. For such annual payers, the balance of any rate increase the Authority imposes during the year will be included in the final quarter billing statement.
Billing Address
Bills will be mailed to the owner of record and not to a tenant. Any agreement of payment between owner and tenant must be considered a transaction between both and in no way concerns the Authority.
